Our founder, James Laver, has a background in cricket bat making and joinery and is widely renowned to be one of the top 10 cricket bat makers in the world. James learned his trades in England in the early nineties and then made his home in New Zealand, where he now lives with his wife Nic. Their kids have now created successful paths of their own but are all very much a part of Nic and James lives. James is also a member of the volunteer Surf search and rescue squad in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand and drives a rescue boat.

With his expertise and love for sports, James applied his knowledge of wood craftsmanship to create a line of high-end pickleball paddles. Our paddles are made from responsibly sourced wood, ensuring sustainability and eco-friendliness. 

Livia keeps all of our accounts, websites and systems in check. She has a thankless job trying to keep James on task as there is always lots to get involved in. Livia also has an amazing gift that enables her to get things done and organised. She also keeps our lovely workshop dog Hazel entertained (or is it the other way round?) with plenty of walks.
