FAQ

What are the advantages of wooden pickleball paddles?

Wood pickleball paddles offer durability, excellent control for shot placement, comfortable grip, and noise reduction. They are also made from fast growing wood and so are sustainable.

What factors should I consider when choosing a wood pickleball paddle?

In addition to the factors mentioned below, it is important to consider the environmental impact when choosing a pickleball paddle. Sustainability and eco-friendliness are values that many individuals prioritize in their purchasing decisions.

Weight: Consider the weight of the paddle in relation to your playing style. Lighter paddles offer faster maneuverability, while heavier ones provide more stability and power.

Grip Size: Ensure the paddle has a comfortable grip size that fits your hand. A proper grip allows for better control and reduces the risk of slippage during gameplay.

Construction Material: Wood paddles can be made from different types of wood, each offering unique characteristics. Consider factors such as durability, responsiveness, and feel to choose the material that suits your playing preferences.

When evaluating the environmental impact of a wood paddle, you can consider the following:

1. Sustainable Sourcing: Look for paddles made from responsibly harvested wood, ideally from fast-growing or renewable sources, to minimize deforestation and support sustainable forestry practices.

2. Durability: Choose a durable paddle that will withstand extensive use over time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimizing waste.

3. Recyclable or Biodegradable Materials: Explore whether the paddle is made from materials that can be recycled or are biodegradable, ensuring responsible waste management at the end of its life cycle.

By considering the environmental impact of the wood paddle, you can make a more conscious choice that aligns with your values of sustainability and minimizes the ecological footprint of your purchase.

Can my paddle get wet?

You can play in light rain but we would always recommend to keep your paddle dry as it can be detrimental to its life.

Are wood pickleball paddles more affordable than composite or graphite paddles?

While wood pickleball paddles are considered more affordable than composite or graphite paddles, they still offer excellent performance, durability, and value for money. By choosing a wooden paddle, you can enjoy the benefits of a high-quality, cost-effective option without compromising on quality. Our Paulownia paddles also have outstanding performance.

Can the hot sun damage my wooden paddle?

There is no problem with the paddles being used in the hot sun but it would be wise not to leave the paddle sitting in hot direct sunlight (especially in your car) for too long as it is a natural product.

Do we have social media?

Yes, we do. To be honest we tend to keep James (Big Jim) busy in the workshop creating paddle masterpieces and on occasion we let him out to interact with everyone but he does have a tendency to waffle on about how things are made in the workshop and whilst interesting (for some (probably not his poor long suffering wife)) we need him actually making some good stuff for you all.

We sure do. Please do send us cool or crazy photos involving our paddles. The best ones are always up for a prize. Use our contact us page for info or send through FB / Instagram etc.
